Cathy Dalton: Artist

By Elizabeth Spence

We noticed this picture by Cathy Dalton on Facebook and we thought it was absolutely wonderful, so we asked her if we could put it in our Art Gallery.  She agreed and here it is:

"Yellow Flowers." Acrylic and Mixed Media on Board. 48x48

Cathy tells us,  “My dear partner surprised me with a pot of yellow orchids. Yellow! So welcome a colour in the whiteness of a Nova Scotia winter! I took the flowers to the studio and  relished the experimentation as I played with paint and collage and scribbled with crayons and pastels.”

Cathy hails from Ontario where she worked in education, played at farming and painted for city theatres.  In fact we caught her in the act as she was painting the scenery for the “Sound of Music” at the Grace Theatre in Tatamagouche last October.

Her new chapter in life includes a home and studio on the North Shore where she continues her investigations into the complexities of line and colour with her stash of acrylics.
